The Gathering logo is a design treatment of the theme for the 2010 Gathering, WE BELIEVE. It incorporates a distinctive cross, and will help tell the story of what We Believe.

Rev. Mark Kiessling, Gathering Program Director, says “We are inundated with so much information and innumerable sound bytes that it can be difficult to know what to believe on a variety of subjects. In God's Word, we find John writing of the things that bring faith and life. The logo points us to the cross which is at the center of what we believe and the truths that Christ tells us about us, our world, and His love for us."

Seth Boggs
, a graphic designer and art instructor at Concordia University Nebraska , designed the 2010 logo.

2010 Gathering Logo and Program Tracks Developed

Planning continues for the 11 th triennial National LCMS Youth Gathering with the development of the Gathering logo and the program track themes.

The logo points us to the cross which is at the center of what we believe and the truths that Christ tells us about us, our world, and His love for us." Seth Boggs, a graphic designer and art instructor at Concordia University Nebraska , designed the 2010 logo.

The program track system that was developed for the 2007 Gathering will once again be implemented in 2010. This will allow participants to experience the program in smaller groups while also providing a structure for each group's daily schedule. Through the three tracks, participants will experience the theme and apply it to their faith and daily lives. The program tracks will unpack the theme verse (John 20:31) and give participants the opportunity to “Look,” “Listen,” and “Live.”

At an August meeting, Gathering planners spent time studying the Gospel of John at the direction of Dr. Michael Middendorf, professor of Theology at Concordia University Irvine and theological advisor for the National Youth Gathering. He explains, “We are given sight by Jesus, the Light of the World, to LOOK and see the Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world. At the Gathering we will also LISTEN and hear to the words of the Word made Flesh, for, as Jesus said, His very words are Spirit and are life. And we who have been given life in Jesus' name are then called to LIVE for others, to love others as He first loved us.”

In early 2009, the Youth Ministry Office will roll out a new design for the Gathering website, www.lcmsgathering.com . In addition to important details related to the event, the site will provide adult leader resources, youth polls, downloads, and a Gathering store.

The Gathering registration fee will be set this winter, and registration will open in the fall of 2009. For more information, contact the Youth Ministry Office at 800.248.1930 Ext. 1155 or by email at youth.ministry@lcms.org.

NOTE: If you need a JPEG of the logo for you publication, please send an email to sherrah.behrens@lcms.org.
