TAX-WISE STEWARDSHIP

It is advisable to use tax laws to work for you in your giving. In many cases it may be possible to give an asset instead of cash.

You may be a farmer who has some grain in storage. Rather than sell the grain and trigger a taxable event, gift the grain and let the charity sell it.

I have met many people who have stock they cannot sell because of capital gains taxes. Gift the stock to the church and let the church sell it for a double tax deduction.

Capital fund drive? Give a piece of real estate rather than sell it. Let the charity sell the real estate and you will get a double deduction.

"The earth is the Lord’s, and everything in it, the world, and all who live in it,
for he founded it upon the seas and established it upon the waters."
